In early April, the application of geographical indication protection of "Turpan Wine"And "Heshuo Wine"passed the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China(AQSIQ)'s formal examination and were announced on its website.
After the announcement,if there is no objections within two months,the two wine regions can get geographical indication protection,but still need to pass a technical review.
The xinjiang uygur autonomous region is China's largest region for table grapes as well as wine grapes.However,Xinjiang wine industry started later.The high transportation cost resulting from its remote location is one of the biggest challenge for local wineries.
