Famous Australian wine writer Denis Gastin recently came to Yantai and studyed the local wine industry.Winechina.com arranged his visits.
As an Australian wine writer,Denis is always focusing on Asia market.He works as editorial consultant for many wine magazines in different countries.
visit Penglai wineries
In 1995 Denis was invited by Jancis Robinson, to contribute to her mega-project: The Oxford Companion to Wine. He has contributed the Asia content. Besides,he was invited to be wine judge in some important wine competitions,like Asia wine competition in Yangling,China,Japan wine competition,Korean wine challenge,etc.
On June 15th, Denis visited Yantai Yilong Wine Packaging Co., Ltd, a wholly foreign-owned enterprise established in China by Colombin & Figlio S.p.a. and Yantai Weilong winery.On 16th, Denis accompanied by Jim Sun, visited some wineries in Penglai,including COFCO GreatWall Wine (Yantai) Co,Chateau State Guest,and Chateau Junding.
Chinese fine wines tasting in Best Wine Cellar
Jim Sun also arranged Chinese fine wines tasting in Yantai Best Wine Cellar.Denis was surprised with some fine wines quality.There are more world-calss wines in China now.During the talking,he also showed great interest in PUCUI-China Fine Wine Alliance.He thought it¡¯s a good way to promotion china fine wine brands.
During wine tasting,Denis was greatly impressed by Best wine cellar¡¯s food.He tried to find the best pairings.After dinner, Jim Sun gave Denis a bottle of Glen Fengxiang Organic wild grape wine and Silver Heights 2010 as gift.

Through this trip,Denis not only knew better about Yantai wine industry also reached cooperative consensus with Jim Sun to promote China fine wines in overseas market. His next stop is Seoul,he will attend the yearly Korean wine challenge as judge.
