Ningxia Hui autonomous region is planing to construct millions of mus of grape corridor in eastern foot of helan mountain wine region-the world acknowledged¡°gold belt¡±for planting wine grapes.
Ningxia Eastern Foot of Helan Mountain is one of China¡¯s three ¡°protected designation of origin¡±.Its unique terroir makes it become world¡¯s few good wine region for top wines. It¡¯s the largest protected wine region for national protected geographic indication products,with 1.5 million mus (100 thousand hectares)of land for planting grapes.
In recent years, Ningxia has issued many policies to encourage grape industry,including China¡¯s first wine region protection regulation and chateau classe management system.
Currently,the whole region¡¯s grape planting area has reached 540 thousand mus (36 thousand hectares), with 58 established wine production enterprises.Many large brands from home and abroad has built wineries in Ningxia,including Pernod Ricard, Hennessy, Changyu and GreatWall.
In recent years,wines made from grapes of eastern foot of helan mountain regions have won more than 100 awards on competitions both at home and abroad.It has become a star region for Chinese wines.
By 2020,Ningxia will expand its grape planting scale to 1 million mu,built 10 grape themed towns and over 100 chateaux.
