Mark Harvey joins the Kent wine and beer operation this September from Dom Perignon owner LVMH, where he is currently business development director in the US for single malt Scotch whisky Glenmorangie.

He is expected to join the Chapel Down board by the end of the year and will report to CEO Frazer Thompson, who highlighted Harvey's 'wealth of experience in luxury drinks development'.

Thompson added: 'There are huge opportunities and challenges ahead in both English wine and beer, and we need the very best talent at Chapel Down to ensure that we are able to better build our business and our brands.'

'I'm thrilled to be joining the Chapel Down team at such an exciting time for the English wine industry,'said Harvey. 'I'm really looking forward to the challenges and enormous opportunities ahead.'

Last year, Chapel Down raised about ?m via crowdfunding to fund the company's expansion plans and upgrades to its winemaking facilities, which Thompson said would help meet demand for the company's wines over the next 25 years.

In March, it secured long-term leases on 73 hectares of vineyard land in Kent, taking its total leased land holdings to 132ha -reflecting the growing optimism of the English wine industry.
