He has been in the wine industry for nearly 30 years.Though he was the committee member of Chinese wine (fruit wine)expert committee since 2007,you can hardly meet him on industry conference.He dosen¡¯t pay attention to ¡°status¡±,but he is well-known in the industry by his excellent technical abilities and personality.

 

Chinese Winemakers (54) Wu Lizhu: Uncrowned Winemaker

He is a well-recognized Chinese winemaker,now technical director of Xinjiang Manas Wei Winery(ÂêÄÉ˹ޱׯ԰).

 

Graduated in Shandong University from department of Chemistry in 1985,he was assigned to work in Qingdao Food Industry Institute.Then he was introduced to Huadong winery.

 

During a visit in Huadong winery,he was attracted by its white wines.That galss of white wine attracted him to work in the wine industry. He said,¡±I can¡¯t drink a lot of wine,and don¡¯t have much interested for that.But this glass of Huadong wine conquered me magically. Its tightly bound me to the wine industry.¡±

 

He formally joined in Huadong winery in 1989 and started his winemaking career.During that time,he went to Australia Charles Sturt University,and Petaluma winery for study.Every year,Huadong also invited some foreigners from France,New Zealand,U.S.A.,Australia for consultating.

 

He said,Those experience provide him a good chance for study.He felt very lucky.Though he left in June,1996.For him,Huadong was like ¡°wine country¡±.

 

Since then,he travelled to different wine regions and worked in different wineries of different sizes and regimes.

During 1996 to 2003,he made 2000 vintage chardonnay wine was awarded ¡°China¡¯s best wines¡±.He said,¡±It¡¯s my unforgettable white wine I¡¯ve made during my winemaking career.¡±

 

In 2003,he went to Xinjiang,Five years later,he came to Penglai then Huailai.And in 2013,he back to Xinjiang again .

 

He said winemaking was a hard job.If you don¡¯t willing to take those hardships,you won¡¯t be good winemaker.¡±It¡¯s of course a hard work,but when you work with a mission,you will overcome those difficulties.When you wines won praises,you will know all is worthwhile.¡±
