Ancient Yellow River Area
Consists of Lankao and Minquan in Henan, Xiaoxian in Anhui and some other sandy soil areas in north Jiangsu. Climate here is a little bit hot, with annual active accumulated temperature 4,000-4,500°C and frost-free period of 210-240 days. Annual rainfall is over 800mm and concentrated in summer times, resulting in grape’s overgrowing, plant diseases and insect pests, which factors lower the grape grade. This area is one of the early grape bases in China, with 13 wineries set up in 1956-1976. Min Quan county is one of the top four grape-production base. In 1978 Minquan got a great development, vineyard area reached 60,000mu, production reached 35000 ton. After 1994, because of sales difficulty, wine production was seriously influenced. Now Minquan county has 12 thousand mu vineyard, annual wine production is 8thousand ton. Varieties in Minquan includes Mei Guixiang, Carignane、Baiyu、Longyan、Heisaibier、Pinger、Wan Hongmi、Fa Guolan、Yan74、ItalianRiesling、Riesling、Pinot Gris、Pinot Noir、CabernetGernischt.
